  1. (transitive) To remove some of the features from (an automobile), for example in order to be able to sell it more cheaply.
    • 1990 July, Popular Mechanics, volume 167, number 7, page 17:
      In an effort to lower the base price, VW plans to decontent the car for '91 by removing a number of the currently standard features.
