fire-plough (plural fire-ploughs)

  1. A firelighting tool consisting of two sticks rubbed together to produce heat through friction and heat, and eventually an ember. It typically uses a V-shaped base piece of wood, usually a soft wood that will produce dust, hence tinder, and a hard wood "friction stick" as the activator.
