Probably the same word as pyelapo (chest), from Proto-Cariban *pɨropɨ (chest), with an unknown prefix ho- added, as also found in words such as hoieelii (tooth) and hoomotaly (shoulder). The -lle ending continues the Proto-Cariban possessed suffix *-rɨ.
