editInherited from Ottoman Turkish اهتمام (ihtimām, “a being thoughtful, anxious, sorrowful; care, anxiety; an employing much thought about a thing; nicety of adjustment, carefulness of finish”),[1][2] from Arabic اِهْتِمَام (ihtimām).[3]
