Usage notes

The most common usage of this verb is impersonal: the third-person forms are used, the subject is in the genitive case (but may be omitted, as usual), and the object (of envy) is usually in the partitive case, although it may sometimes be in the nominative case:

Minun käy häntä kateeksi.

I envy him/her.
