From Proto-Slavic *kridlo; cognate with Upper Sorbian křidło, Polish skrzydło, Czech křídlo, Old Church Slavonic крило (krilo), and Russian крыло́ (kryló). The sense ‘grand piano’ is a semantic loan from German Flügel.
