From Ottoman Turkish قاچ (kaç). Cognate with Old Turkic 𐰴𐰲 (kaç, “[interrogative adjective]”), Tuvan каш (kaş, “how many”), from Proto-Turkic *ka- (“interrogative particle”).[1] Related to hani (“which”).
