From Ottoman Turkish قاچ (kaç). Cognate with Old Turkic 𐰴𐰲 (kaç, [interrogative adjective]), Tuvan каш (kaş, how many), from Proto-Turkic *ka- (interrogative particle).[1] Related to hani (which).
