Etymology edit

Unclear. It has its origins in the Catalan Company's brutality in the Catalan Campaign in Asia Minor. ^[1]^[2] Another theory suggests it comes from the derivation of kall (“to thrust or pierce”), influenced by a story by Polyphemus.
