Borrowed from Egyptian Arabic خَمَاسِين (ḵamasīn, “fifties”), plural of خَمْسُون (“fifty”).

- Alternative form of khamsin (“hot wind in Egypt”)
- An oppressive, hot, dusty, south or south-east wind occurring elsewhere in North Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, and the Levant, intermittently in late winter through late spring.
- According to the Turkish Calendar of Storms, a storm of three days, to be expected around February 1.
