Borrowed from Egyptian Arabic خَمَاسِين (ḵamasīn, “fifties”), plural of خَمْسُون (“fifty”).

khamaseen (plural khamaseens or khamaseen)

1. Alternative form of khamsin (“hot wind in Egypt”)
2. An oppressive, hot, dusty, south or south-east wind occurring elsewhere in North Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, and the Levant, intermittently in late winter through late spring.
3. According to the Turkish Calendar of Storms, a storm of three days, to be expected around February 1.
