Cognate with Muong lốt. Compare Proto-Katuic *luat (“to peel skin, to slough”) (whence Pacoh loat).
Baxter & Sagart (2014) propose that this is borrowed from Old Chinese 蛻 (OC *lot) (B-S).[1]
