Etymology

edit

From Italian lasagna, possibly from Vulgar Latin *lasania, from Latin lasanum (cooking pot), from Ancient Greek λάσανον (lásanon, trivet or stand for a pot). Others argue the Italian lasagna originally derived from the Arabic لَوْزِينَج (lawzīnaj, almond cake).
