Etymology edit
From Ottoman Turkish لبلبی (leblebi, “roasted chickpea; jumbled or mashed chickpea”) and Modern Turkish leblebi from Arabic لَبْلَابِيّ (lablābiyy, “chickpea stew”), and directly from Arabic لَبْلَابِيّ (lablābiyy) for Arabic dishes but then more properly spelled lablabi.
