Noun edit

maniraptoran (plural maniraptorans)

  1. (biology) Any of a group of advanced theropods, of the clade Maniraptora, thought to be ancestors of both dinosaurs and birds.
    • 2022, Thomas Halliday, Otherlands, Penguin, published 2023, page 125:
Unlike lizards and many other dinosaur groups, maniraptorans (including birds) do not shed their skin in large sections, as this would interfere with the feathers.
