Etymology edit

Borrowed from Swahili farasi,[1][2] from Arabic فَرَس (faras).

Pronunciation edit

  • IPA(key): /ᵐbàɾá(ː)ðì(ꜜ)/
The second a is pronounced both short and long.[1]
As for Tonal Class, Benson (1964) classifies this term into Class 3 with a trisyllabic stem, together with kĩgokora, mbarĩki, thimiti, and so on.
