      The presence of epiphyllous fungi as microthyriaceous germlings (Microthyriaceae) in the sediments, as well as some earlier records of microthyriaceous fruit bodies associated with fossil leaves [48 –50 ] demonstrate the presence of broad leaved wet evergreen to semi-evergreen tropical forest as they require high humidity coupled with high temperature for their growth.
