Dutch edit

Etymology edit

Probably from Naatje, a nickname of het Monument ter herinnering aan den Hollandse Volkswil, possibly influenced by naadje (vulva, slit), though Naatje was already in use as a (nick)name for women at the time. The statue was of poor quality.

Pronunciation edit

  • IPA(key): /ˈnaːt.jə/, [ˈnaː.cə]
  • (file)
  • Hyphenation: naat‧je
