nanodomain (plural nanodomains)

1. (chemistry) A small set of atoms bound together, measuring between 1 and 100 nanometers.
2. (biochemistry) In reference calcium signalling, is where the calcium-binding proteins (or "sensors") are located within a few nanometers of an open calcium channel.
