onychodermal band (plural onychodermal bands)

(anatomy) A fine, pallid, translucent band at the junction of the distal nail bed and hyponychium.

  Pressure using the point of a pencil on the nail plate applied over the lunula will blanch all but the distal pink band of the onychodermal band.
