overtime ban (plural overtime bans)

  1. A type of industrial action, in which the workers collectively refuse to work overtime.
    • 1947 January and February, “Notes and News: A Month Without "Bradshaw"”, in Railway Magazine, page 56:
      Details of the new services were awaited eagerly, but, to the disappointment of travellers and students of timetables alike, the recent ban on overtime in the printing industry imposed such serious delays that it was impossible to publish Bradshaw by the required day, and the proprietors cancelled the issue for October.
