Borrowed from Malay pedoman (“compass, guideline”), from a circumfixed form of Javanese dom (“needle”).

padduman

1. compass

   In tau magtulak-tulak subay awn padduman niya.

   A navigator should have a compass.

2. diary

   Supaya diꞌ kalupahan subay hibutang ha padduman.

   This must be written in a diary so as not to be forgotten.
