Etymology edit

prick +‎ skytt. Compare with mitt i prick (bullseye).

Noun edit

prickskytt c

  1. sniper (in the sense of using long-range small arms for precise attacks)

Usage notes edit

Some use the terms krypskytt and prickskytt interchangeably. It is considered more appropriate to use krypskytt for snipers that act illicitly in order to poach, murder, or spread terror, and to instead use the word prickskytt for snipers that act legitimately within the military or law enforcement.
