Usage notesEdit

Both of the two ways of inflecting ruoka presented above are regarded as acceptable by Kotus, an authority in Finnish language. Yet they opine that the one with the weak stem "ruo" is to be held as more correct in written language as the second spelling with the weak stem "ruu" is based on pronunciation of the word and not the recognized declension rules.
