From Proto-Albanian *raṷīnja, *raudinja, from Proto-Indo-European *HrewdH-. Compare Sanskrit रोदिति (róditi, “to weep”), Latin rūdō (“to shout, cry”), Lithuanian raudà (“weeping”), Proto-Slavic *rydati (“to weep”).[1]
