secondary boycott (plural secondary boycotts)

  1. A boycott of one organization to put pressure on another organization which is the real target.

      The National Labor Relations Board today ruled that the Miami Printing Pressmen's union conducted unlawful secondary boycott picketing of the Detroit Free Press, which, like the Miami Herald where the Pressmen were on strike, is owned by Knight Newspapers, Inc.[1]
    • 2017, Congressional Research Service:
      The primary boycott prohibits citizens of an Arab League member from buying from, selling to, or entering into a business contract with either the Israeli government or an Israeli citizen. The secondary boycott extends the primary boycott to any entity world-wide that does business in Israel.[2]
