Etymology

From shën +‎ Dhimitër, a calque of Latin Sanctus Demetrius, the latter derived directly from Ancient Greek Δημήτριος (Dēmḗtrios). The martyr is venerated in Albania on 26 October, linking the month to the saint's day.
