Romanian edit

Etymology edit

Inherited from Latin trāma, probably through the intermediate of a Vulgar Latin verb *extrāmāre, and perhaps a lost early Romanian verb *străma (compare Aromanian strãmedz, strãmari, Sardinian istramare). Cf. also destrăma and tramă.

Noun edit

stramă f (plural strame)

  1. (archaic, regional) an unwoven, unraveled, or frayed thread
