Finnish edit
Etymology edit
Borrowed from Old Swedish diäkn, deghn, compare Swedish djäkne, ultimately from Ancient Greek διάκονος (diákonos). The historical sense listed below is the original one. Its current meaning "teen" is taken from English teen and the Finnish word is sometimes considered to originate from the English one, even though the words are not etymologically related.
