Etymology

From Proto-Albanian *ts-angulā, prefixed diminutive of Proto-Indo-European *h₂éngʷʰis (snake) (compare Latin anguis, Lithuanian angìs, Old High German angar (kind of maggot)).[1] Alternatiely, from Proto-Albanian *sengulā, diminutive of Proto-Indo-European *sengʰ- (ant) (compare Old Prussian sangis, Irish seangán, Central Kurdish ھەنگ (heng, bee)).[2]
