Swedish edit

Etymology edit

From Old Swedish til þäs, that is: till (to) + dess (genitive of den, det (“that”)). In Old Norse and earlier Swedish the preposition till took the genitive, and this is why dess is used. Compare till bords, till sjöss, till fots. The synonymous preposition tills is a contraction of this.
