Tricounis

Etymology edit

From the nickname of the inventor, Félix-Valentin Genecand (1878-1957).

Noun edit

tricouni (plural tricounis)

  1. A kind of metal nail fixed to the soles of shoes or boots to improve their grip.
    • 1968, Gary Joll, Big Game Hunting in New Zealand, page 36:
To add tricounis, first soak the boots for a day or so in cold water — this softens the leather of the soles and makes nailing easier. Next decide on how many tricounis you want, say, five or six per boot []
