typeform (plural typeforms)

  1. (printing, historical) The part of a printing press which holds the type, and against which the platen is pressed.
    • 1987, Robert Woods, Printing and Production for Promotional Materials, page 36:
      Once these important ingredients were ready, ink was spread over the raised letters of the typeform. The flat surface, called a platen, was then slowly lowered, pressing well-moistened paper against the relief surface.
