Usage notes

This form of vorher was common in prose as late as the mid 18th century, and was still found in translation dictionaries in the late 18th century. Vorher had begun to overtake it in the early 18th century, however, and was dominant by the early 19th century. By the mid 19th century, vorhero was archaic and limited to poetic use.
