From Ancient Greek τίνων (tínōn), genitive plural of the interrogative pronoun: masculine, feminine τίς (tís) and of neuter τί (tí). Compare to the indefinite pronoun τίς (tís) with genitive τινῶν (tinôn, “of/about some people”).
