Greek edit
Etymology edit
Inherited from Ancient Greek φύλλον (phúllon, “leaf”) ( ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *bʰleh₃- through a root *bʰolh₃-yom), and semantic loan from French feuille in some senses, such as "sheet". For "playing card", semantic loan from Italian carte. [1] Cognate with Mariupol Greek фи́лу (fílu).
