Etymology edit

Inherited from Proto-Slavic *měšati. By surface analysis, ме́ся (mésja) +‎ -ям (-jam).

  1. (transitive) to blend, to stir
    1. to shuffle, to jumble up
    2. to distort, to misshapen
    3. (slang) to mix different substances (alcohol, opiates, drugs)
      не мешам вино и ракияne mešam vino i rakijanot to mix wine and rakija
  2. (reflexive with се) to meddle in someone's business
  3. (reflexive with се, figurative) to interact, to get acquainted with somebody
  4. (reflexive with си) to interchange one's belongings
