Etymology edit
Combining form of अनु (ánu), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *ánu (“after; following”). Cognate with Avestan 𐬀𐬥𐬎 (anu, “after; corresponding to”) and Old Persian 𐎠𐎵𐎺 (a-nu-v /anuv/). See adverb and preposition अनु (anu).
