Etymology edit

First attested in the Sinjeung yuhap (新增類合 / 신증유합), 1576, as Middle Korean 그르되다 (Yale: kulu-twoyta), equivalent to 그릇 (geureut, falsely, wrongly) +‎ 되다 (-doeda, to become, light verb deriving passive verbs).

그릇되다 (geureutdoeda) (infinitive 그릇돼 or 그릇되어, sequential 그릇되니)

  1. (intransitive) to become wrong (immoral); to become false; to become bad (a bad action, habit)
