1. Obsolete spelling of Irrtum which was deprecated in 1902 following the Second Orthographic Conference of 1901.
   • 1813, Johann Gottlieb Fichte, edited by Immanuel Hermann Fichte, Einleitungsvorlesungen in die Wissenschaftslehre, Leipzig, published 1924, page 39:

     »Ich stelle es mir nur vor, denke mir’s nur: es ist darum keine Wahrheit darin, eitel Irrthum und Täuschung.«

     “I merely imagine it, think it: therefore there is no truth in it, vain mistake and deception.”
