Via German Low German [Term?] from Middle Low German krûke, from Old Saxon krūka, from Proto-West Germanic *krūkā, probably from the root of Krug (“jug”).
Cognate with Dutch kruik, English crock, Danish krukke (“jar”), Icelandic krukka (“pot”), French cruche (“jug”) (from Frankish).
