OED puts a "?" next to definition of this sense, presumably reflecting uncertainty as to Chaucer's intended meaning. There is one use of "cornie aile" from the 1500s and a mention in a 19th-century East Anglia dialect dictionary. This, that and the other (talk) 07:56, 20 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
