naval crown (plural naval crowns)

  1. (historical, military) A gold crown surmounted with small replicas of the prows of ships, given as a military award in Ancient Rome to the first man who boarded an enemy ship during a naval engagement.
  2. (heraldry) A naval emblem made up of a circlet with the sails and sterns of ships alternating on top.
