From re- + a derivative of Latin luscus (one-eyed); alternatively from Proto-Celtic *lowksko-, from Proto-Celtic *lowko- (bright, light). Compare lóstrego.[1] Ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *lewk- (to shine).
