From Proto-Central Bahnaric *ɗaːk, from Proto-Bahnaric *ɗaːk, from Proto-Austroasiatic *ɗaːk; cognate with Halang dak, Koho daa, Khmer ទឹក (tɨk), Vietnamese nước and Mon ဍာ် (daik).
