editEtymology
editIt is unclear whether the verbal stem originally ended in a velar or in a dental. The etymology remains unknown; connection with νάκη (nákē, “woolen skin”) cannot be proven. According to Beekes, the verb is probably Pre-Greek. Borrowed as Latin: naccae (“fullers”), perhaps from *νάκται (*náktai).
