By surface analysis, from пёс (pjos, dog) and есть (jestʹ, to eat); literally, dog eater place. This explanation is common in folk etymology used in local legends; the official webside of the village is using a dachshund as its logo; one of the older spellings of the village's name is "Псоѣди" (probably referring to the folk etymology).
