Etymology edit

From дво́йка (dvójka) +‎ -ник (-nik). The USSR and now the Russian Federation and other ex-Soviet republics used/use a five-point academic grading system where два (dva, two, number 2) denotes hardly any knowledge, below average, the first level of failing.
