Etymology

edit

Given the atypical (-je) adverbial ending, probably borrowed from Polish koniecznie (a native East Slavic formation would be expected to yield *кане́чна (*kanjéčna)). Alternative spelling and pronunciation likely influenced by Russian коне́чно (konéčno).

Pronunciation

edit
  • кане́чне: IPA(key): [kaˈnʲet͡ʂnʲe]
  • кане́шне: IPA(key): [kaˈnʲeʂnʲe]
  • Audio (кане́чне):(file)

Adverb

edit

кане́чне (kanjéčnje)

  1. absolutely, necessarily
  2. of course, certainly
