EtymologyEdit

Borrowed from Old Church Slavonic кесарь (kesarĭ), from Koine Greek Καῖσαρ (Kaîsar), itself a borrowing from Latin Caesar. Doublet of царь (carʹ), це́зарь (cézarʹ), and це́сарь (césarʹ).
