Etymology

From Old Church Slavonic кольце (kolĭce), a diminutive from коло n (kolo, wheel, circle) +‎ -ьце (-ĭce, suffix forming diminutives of neuters), the former from Proto-Slavic *kȍlo (wheel), whence Russian колесо́ (kolesó, wheel).
