Inherited from Proto-Slavic *kotorъjь, *koterъjь, definite of **kotorъ, **koterъ, from Proto-Balto-Slavic *kateras, from Proto-Indo-European *kʷóteros (which of 2), from *kʷos (what?, which?) +‎ *-teros (contrastive).
